September 19th- today, me Amy Newman and Pru Dennis had a disscussion about different music videos we could choose. We struggled to choose, but ended up deciding with Lily Allen-Naive.
September 26th- Me, Amy and Tafi, from another group, did some practise shots. I was the model for these shots. We practised long shot, close up shot, tracking shot and establishing shot of the setting.
October 3rd- Today, me and Amy finished off the storyboard, re-shot our lip syncing task and began filming. We shot two shots to start off our music video production.
October 5th- We have decided that we would like a 'memory board' as the background for our shoot of the whole song. We have about 20 different newspapers and magazines and we plan on cutting out all different quotes, letters, words and pictures that would be relevant to a teenager. We have lined the top with clouds which make the effect of it all being someones thought stream.
October 9th- Me Amy and Pru went to a park and filmed a few of our 'memory' scenes for our music video. We are planning to use effects such as black and white to make it look antiquated and a reverse effect. As it was raining, the light in the shots wasn't very good and were not up to the standard that we expected for the shots.
October 10th- Today we done our first shoot of the whole song. The setting was in the drama hall and we had the singer sitting infront of a white background, and we are going to use some of it in an editing software to see what different effects can be put on it. The whole song was lip synced from start to finish.
October 11th- As we have been working on this for a month or so now, today we decided to just concentrate on uploading and updating our blogs. We ensured all of the planning and research tasks were done to a good standard and made a list of targets.
October 16th- After Pru has taken a bit of time off school, me and Amy decided to sort out the Digipak. We created a Twitter, Facebook and Bebo account for our artist, Jess Thomas. We plan on logging on every few days to update our 'fans' and followers to the happenings of Jess Thomas.
October 22nd- We are editing the film we have so far today, so we are completing our lip syncing task and editing some of the film we've already done. We have decided we need to reshoot the storyboard, as it was filmed too fast and we struggled to make it fit with the music.
October 26th- Today we re-filmed our storyboard and made a plan for filming during the half term holidays. We decided on three main locations for the filming- in the high street, in a cafe and in a house. Also, we done another shot of the song all the way through in a well lit room with no windows.
October 30th- Today we filmed the shots for the 'memory scenes' in a park and by a pond. We have changed the storyboard to a different star, and the narrative of the video is of a girl who is cheating on her boyfriend who she thinks is 'naive'. Also, we filmed the majority of the storyline in Amys house and kitchen. The weather was overcast, but the rain managed to hold off whilst we filmed outside.
November 6th- We have captured all of our footage onto the computer, and managed to split the footage into sections. We also done a shoot of our new star singing the song the whole way through, but this may need to be reshot.
November 6th-16th- For these 10 days we have focused on editing all of the footage we had already filmed. Out of 9 minutes filming we had, we had the task of narrowing it down to 1 minute 14 seconds of shots according to the storyboard.
November 20th- Today we re-shot the letters for the chorus 'You're so naive yet so'. We have used scrabble letters, spaghetti letters and cut of newspaper/magazine letters. We have done this shot many times to ensure we get the effect we want at the end of it all.
November 24th- We had planned a weekend away with the girls to celebrate a birthday, and decided to take our camera to film a few shots on the beach and pier at Brighton. However, the weather was awful and it didn't stop raining all weekend, so we couldn't get any good shots.
November 28th- Today we re-filmed our artist singing the song the whole way through, this time in a different location to see if the lighting made any difference to the quality of the shots. It very much improved the quality and we are pleased with the final result.
December 6th- All of our lessons for the past week have been focused on editing and making the website.
December 9th- Today we had to review all of our footage with the songs, and decided to change the song. We will use a variety of the shots already used, just with a different song. We have decided to re shoot some also, as we wanted the video to be the best we could make it.
Decemeber 12th- We had a photo shoot today to get some pictures of our artist for the website. She wore a few different outfits, but we done a variety of shots such as close up and a long shot so we had a wide choice of photos.
December 14th- Today we created our website and learnt how to edit it, as it was a new website to us.
December 17th- Today we have focused on the digipak so we have updated the Twitter and Facebook pages with posts and information for those following our progress.
December 21st- We have made a list of things that need to be edited and completed for the blog to improve over the Christmas holidays, for example, to upload the documents from our computer to the blog that need to be there.
January 7th- We have edited some new filming today, and tried to fit it into the music video where there's gaps. We may need to edit and replace some other shots, as we want to improve the standard of the video.
January 11th- We have exported all of our work from one computer to another faster, updated one. This should improve our video overall, as the new computer is much newer and has more up to date software. We can also learn how to use other software other than premiere. This will help us achieve our potential grade by the end of the course.
January 14th- Since transferring the video over, all our music video shots have jumbled up so we have had to spend 3 hours worth of lessons trying to rearrange all the shots and put them into their rightful place. Also, we have edited and changed some of us our storyboard, as we needed to improve some shots.
January 16th- Today we focused mainly on the digipak. We have improved the website and updated it all with our details. We have also been tweeting and putting statuses on Facebook regularly to update our 'fans' on our progress.
January 21st- Over the weekend, we had planned to re shoot some of our shots. However, due to heavy snowfall, we were unable to do so. We will reschedule the filming once the snow thaws.
January 23rd- Today we started the plan for our album cover, and started to heavily edit the website. We started by comparing other websites, ones we thought were good and ones we thought needed work. This helped us develop traits of what to do and what not to do.
January 25th- Today we are planning to create some merchandise for our artist. This is going to include beauty products. We got inspiration for this from other artists websites who advertised merchandise. This is a trial web page as we're unsure of how well it will work.
January 28th- We have re-shot some of our scenes today as we wanted to compare the quality between the shots. We prefer the shots we have now as they capture more of the image that we wanted to portray.
January 29th- Today we are concentrating on the digipak. We have brainstormed a few ideas for the album cover, and have come up with song names all with a theme of love and heartbreak, which links with our song.
February 1st- We have started to focus more on the digipak, and have started plans for the CD cover. We found examples of CD covers that we want to use as inspiration, and researched different kinds of covers for different genres of music
February 4th- We have now decided that we want a split screen to be our front cover of our CD, as we think this fits in with the footage we have taken (we start the song, for now, with a shot of just the artists lips syncing the first verse). We wanted to link this with the video as this is what most artists do.
February 6th- For the CD cover, we created a list of song names to go onto the album. They are all related to the song we have chosen, which is about love and heartbreak, but with a more upbeat feel to it.
February 8th- We have planned our next filming session today (Wednesday 13th), as the weather report over the weekend predicts snow. At this shoot, we want to get the final shots done and fill in the gaps we have.
February 11th- We have focused on the website today, finding appropriate quotes and pictures. We have tried to fit into a simple yet effective colour scheme.
February 13th- Whilst focusing on the digipak in our lesson, today after school we are going to film a variety of shots to see what ones fit best with the music video we have done so far.
February 18th- We have tried to film a few shots today, but the weather made it difficult to film as it was stormy, so it effected the light of the camera. We will plan a reshoot.
February 21st- The filming has been re-arranged for today as the weather seems better.
February 27th- Today we have decided to focus on editing the rest of the shots we have filmed in the past week or so.
March 3rd- We have learnt how to create a split screen using the same shot 4 times, and have used it so there is a shot with four lips lip syncing the same lyric at the same time. It looks really good and we are proud of how professional it looks.
March 6th- We have decided to re-arrange some of the website today, getting rid of a few pages and replacing them with better more realistic ideas, following new research we have done by looking at other artists updated websites.
March 10th- Today we have filmed the last gaps that are in our music video, due to the weather of the past few months. We now need to edit the footage and put it in the correct place.
March 13th- From now to the deadline, we are putting the final touches onto our music video and digipak. We have made ourselves a to do list to ensure we get everything done that we want to.
March 15th- We have to reshoot a few seconds of footage for our music video to ensure it is the best we can get it. This is because we hadn't used a tripod for the first filming, which you can tell in the footage.
March 19th- Today we have began our evaulation.
March 21st- We have split our evaluation into 2 questions per person in our group to ensure we can focus on the question more, and have more time to go into detail about our coursework.
March 23rd- We have decided to update all of our blogs to the highest standard we can. We have tried to split the priorities equally so we can efficiently update what needs to be updated.
